This post is your golden opportunity to build your very own Automatic Honey Farm in Minecraft 1.21!

It’s not just buzzing with productivity, filling your jars with delicious honey by the bucketload, but it’s also surprisingly simple to set up. Plus, the design is expandable, so you can create a honey empire as vast as you desire!

Watch the video tutorial at the end of this post for a detailed step-by-step guide.

Benefits of a Honey Farm

  • Consistent Supply: A Bee Farm provides a steady stream of honey (honeycomb and honey bottles), a valuable resource used in various crafting recipes, such as candles, honeycomb blocks, honey blocks, sugar, and more.
  • Time-Saving: An automatic Honey Farm eliminates the need for manually harvesting the bees, saving you precious time and effort, that can be used in other Minecraft activities.
  • Waxing: Problems with oxidation? Applying honeycomb to a copper block transforms it into its waxed variant, protecting it from oxidation entirely.
  • Food Source: Honey in a honey bottle can be consumed to restore hunger and to remove any poison effect applied to the player.

How It Works

  • Bees pollinate the flowers and return to their nests or hives, filling them with honey.
  • A redstone system is used to continuously monitor the honey level within beehives or bee nests.
  • When the honey level reaches 5 (full), the redstone system activates a harvesting mechanism.
  • A dispenser containing shears or glass bottles is used to harvest the honeycomb or collect the honey bottles.
  • The harvested items are then transported to a designated chest for storage.

Additional Tips

  • As bees only pollinate during daylight hours, the farm will only work 50% of the time in the overworld. The lack of a day-night cycle in the End and Nether makes honey farms more productive in these dimensions.
  • If the dispensers are not full with empty bottles, they will collect the honey bottles. So one has to make sure that they always have enough empty bottles in the dispensers.
