You have just created a new superflat world in Minecraft and it’s full of slimes? Let’s fix that!

Superflat worlds, while convenient for building, often come with an unexpected side effect: a crowd of annoying slimes. These gooey creatures can quickly become a nuisance, interfering with your constructions and adding an unwanted element of chaos to your gameplay.

This post will guide you through three effective methods to get rid of slimes from your superflat world, allowing you to focus on your building projects without the constant slime threat.

A full step-by-step guide can be found in the video tutorial at the end of this article.

Method 1: Adjust the Difficulty

The simplest solution to get rid of slimes is to change the world’s difficulty to Peaceful mode. This will prevent all hostile mobs, including slimes, from spawning. However, keep in mind that this will also disable the spawning of other mobs, such as creepers, skeletons, etc.

Method 2: Increase World Height

Slimes typically spawn below Y level 40. Superflat worlds usually start at Y=-60, therefore, you can prevent slime spawns by adding more layers to the world. This method is particularly beneficial if are creating a new world and want to maintain the natural spawning of other mobs.

Follow the following steps to disable slime spawning:

1. Click on the “Create New World” button in the Minecraft main menu.

2. Give a name to your world and go to the “World” tab.

3. Set the world type to “Superflat” and click on the “Customize” button.

4. Select the Dirt layer and click on the “Presets” button.

5. Add at least 100 dirt layers to raise the starting Y level to 40 or higher, which means that you have to replace the value 2 with 102 or higher.

6. Lastly, save the changes and create a new world with no slimes 🙂

Method 3: Modify Mob Spawning

For existing superflat worlds, follow these steps to get rid of slimes:

  1. Disable Mob Spawning: Use the command /gamerule MobSpawning false to prevent mobs from spawning.
  2. Disable Mob Loot: Use the command /gamerule mobLoot false to prevent mobs from dropping items. This will ensure that the slimes don’t leave behind a trail of slime balls, making the process more efficient and less messy.
  3. Eliminate Slimes: Use the command /kill @e[type=slime] to kill all existing slimes. You will have to use this commands 3 times because large slimes split into multiple smaller slimes when they die.
  4. Re-enable Mob Loot: Use the command /gamerule mobLoot true to allow mobs to drop items again.

Make sure that disabling mob spawning will prevent not only slimes but also all other mobs from naturally spawning.
