This guide will show you how to build an Easy and Automatic Chicken Farm in Minecraft 1.21!

With this simple and efficient design, you’ll have a constant supply of feathers and cooked chicken for all your Minecraft needs. This is by far the best chicken farm you can find, because, you don’t even need to cook your chicken!

A full step-by-step guide can be found in the video tutorial at the end of this article.

Benefits of a Chicken Farm

  • Consistent Supply: A Chicken Farm provides a steady stream of feathers and cooked chicken, essential resources for various crafting projects and survival needs.
  • Time-Saving: An automatic Chicken Farm eliminates the need for manual egg collection and cooking, freeing up time for other Minecraft activities.
  • Food Source: Cooked chicken is one of the best foods that you can eat in Minecraft since it restores 3 hunger points and has a high hunger saturation. So, if you are searching for a good food farm, think about building this one!
  • Trading Opportunities: Feathers and cooked chicken can be traded with fletcher and butcher villagers for emeralds!
  • Easy to Build: The design is straightforward and the required resources are easy to obtain.

How It Works

  • An enclosure is constructed to contain the chickens, while hoppers are strategically placed beneath them to automatically gather eggs.
  • A dispenser is connected to the hoppers to fire the eggs. When thrown by a dispenser an egg has a probability of 12.5% of spawning a baby chicken.
  • Once the baby chickens grow into adults, they will be burned by the lava and drop cooked chicken and feathers that will end up in the storage chest.

Additional Tips

  • In case eggs accumulate within the dispenser without being launched, place a block behind the repeater as shown in the video below. It must be a solid block (not glass). Make sure you’re using a dispenser rather than a dropper.
  • If you’re getting raw chicken it’s because you’ve maxed out your chickens on your farm and they’re dying due to cramming damage, however, it’s better to have the maximum number of chickens to have the best efficiency. Therefore the farm is still working well despite the raw chicken output, consider it a bonus 🙂
